The annual European Farrier Championship Switzerland 2018 will take place from 22nd – 23rd of June 2018 at the Aarberg Educational Centre with 76 teams from 16 nations participating in the competition.
The championship will be a collaborative event, alongside the 50 year anniversary of the Educational Center in Aarberg, where the new training rooms of the AMSuisee will be opened.
With over 3000 guests expected to visit throughout the occasion, this is a must-attend event in the farrier calendar!
Farrier Competition
The event will see teams of 4 from all UK nations attend with Matt Randles, who has worked with Jim Blurton Horseshoes in previous competitions, representing England.
The competition officially kicks off on the 22nd June 2018, but competitors are all invited to attend an introductory dinner on the Thursday evening ahead of the main event on Friday and Saturday.
With 76 teams entering the competition (increased from the original 64 due to the popularity of the event!), the teams will enter in heats until the final 16 teams are left competing.
So spectators can keep up to date with the competition at all times, a 4m screen will be in place on the festival field showcasing the action as it happens.
Competitors are already busy making preparations. To measure the teams’ efforts, the competition will be judged by two internationally renowned judges – Iain Ritchie from Canada and Chad Chance from the USA with an official prize giving held at the hotel ‘Zum Weissen Kreuz’ in Lyss during the Gala dinner.
Exhibition Stands
In addition to the European Farrier Championship, there will also be an exhibitors’ area and large market space where visitors will be able to meet equine experts, farrier tools and horseshoe manufacturers, and much more.
Guests will also be treated to a selection of food and drink delights at the food market, which will be held at the festival site.
